A white wave crashes into the shore. A lovely print for your home to cheer you up on cold dark winter days.

This was originally painted in 2001 after a month spent travelling through France by train. Along the south west coast by Biarritz were lots of cliffs and rocks that were continuously battered by the incoming waves of the Atlantic. The sounds were deep and the white foam jumped into the sky. I remember disregarding one warning sign and getting very wet on one occasion.

When I returned to London I wanted to capture these breaking waves on canvas. Some of the white paint used is direct from the tube, no brush or palette knife needed. Just untouched blobs, to use the technical term. On the original canvas some of the paint is about an inch thick.
