For this painting I did what I usually do when painting landscape. I squeezed different coloured paints onto canvas and mixed them together with my palette knife to capture an effect. I never try to exactly replicate what I see - it's more like painting the effect and atmosphere that I see, in this case a hazy smoggy sea view.
