This yarn is spun from wool exclusively from our farm on the Mendip hills. The natural colours of the flock are blended to create a warm beige yarn with heathery variations in colour. The loosely spun single-ply makes a lightweight, warm yarn that traps a lot of air, perfect for those winter hand-knits!
After two years extensive research for my Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust report "Growing and Marketing Fine Wool in Native Colours" I am ready to offer our fibres to those who appreciate naturally colourful fine fibres
After looking into the Icelandic breed and lopi yarn construction I considered our fibres to have similar qualities for creating a lighter, warmer and softer yarn when compared to traditional British style tightly-spun yarns.
