This card is super eco-friendly (as in, most of the stuff I used to make it came from the bin), and totally unique (as in, this is the only one like it in existence).

It is made from a copy of The Night Before Christmas, illustrated by Douglas Gorsline, and published by Random House in 1975. The book was battered and torn, of course, as I absolutely never cut up books which could otherwise be read.

I have sewn each illustration onto an unused Christmas card from few years back.

All of the writing on the card has been written by hand (my hand) with proper ink, so if it gets wet it will run.

It measures 9.5cms x 9.7cms approx (when folded), comes with a sewn upcycled envelope, and is left blank inside for your own message.

All of my work is individually numbered, this is 553.

UK postage is free.

I made a batch of cards from this book last Christmas and they sold immediately. This one was reserved for a customer who never bought it.

My ethos is to use materials which others discard, so it will arrive on your doormat in an envelope which has been sewn from old magazines.

When I acquired this book, it had already lived a life, and was well beyond its best. Some of the pages were torn and had come away from the cover.

I wanted to give it a new life, it had already given 39 years of pleasure to who knows how many people.

The American artist, Douglas Gorsline, illustrated it beautifully. The quality of the print and the paper is exquisite.

The Paperchase card I used as a base was given to me by a friend, a few years ago. She had bought a few packs cheaply, as they were a faulty batch. They had been printed incorrectly and had small splatters of glue on the back. I had been waiting for the opportunity to use them, as the card is heavy and recycled, and this was it. I successfully scraped off the glue.

They have a lovely little penguin on the back, but I'm afraid that the designer wasn't given credit so I can't name him or her.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this card, and hope it goes to a home that respects age.
