This is an original design, hand pulled, lino print of a Blackbird. This is a limited edition of only 50 prints of this design.

After caring a single block measuring 20.5cm x 30.5cm, "Colly Bird" was hand-printed on Zerkall printmaking paper in velvet black professional printmaking ink. Each print is an original work of art, numbered and signed by me, the artist Jean Stevens.

Linocuts are original prints, not giclee (computer) prints. Each print takes time, care and skill to produce. Minor variations occur naturally through the printmaking process.

This print comes unmounted and unframed. It will be rolled and wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and sent to you in a tube.

Inspired by the Blackbirds that I see regularly in my studio garden. In the old English Christmas Carol "The Twelve Days of Christmas" there is a line commonly sung as "Four Colly Birds" an archaism being "black as coal" that was a popular english nickname for the Blackbird.
