I love to collect things, hunting through charity shops for vintage treasures. I source my glass from them. I choose very carefully selecting pieces for their quality, then I up-cycle them with my own designs.

I have up-cycled this beautiful antique style glass carafe set by hand engraving a Nordic boat sailing under the stars on to both surfaces to create magical illustrations which personalise the items into a bespoke and collectible set of decorative glassware which may also be used to serve water to guests at mealtimes or set on a nightstand at bed time. The glass is placed over the main vessel as a lid. The main carafe stands at 14.5cm, the glass at 6.5cm.

These items are vintage and up-cycled, so any tiny signs of wear will be incorporated into the main hand engraved design to produce a perfectly restored and original, contemporary item.

The boat idea came from a souvenir my Great Aunt Jessie kept on her kitchen mantelpiece. It is now on my mantelpiece. I thought this lovely glass carafe set needed a sea for the boat to sail on - and dreaming can be thirsty work! The engraving brings more meaning to the object making it personalised and magical.
