Lancashire Yarn is 100% wool, made from sheep that live and graze in Lancashire.
This listing is for 1 x 50g skein of natural undyed wool yarn.
Approx 113 yards / 103 metres.
The wool is of medium softness that softens further when washed, so is ideal for hats, jumpers, bags etc for crochet, knitting, weaving and other textile crafts. It felts well too.
See my other listings for hand dyed Lancashire Yarn.
If you prefer a would ball please let me know at the checkout and I will ball it for you.
This wool is hand wash only.
As a crocheter I wanted to use a truly local yarn. I found various local hand spinners creating beautiful yarns, but these were often made from wools that were not local, and in the case of Merino, often not ethically produced.
In Lancashire we are surrounded by sheep, so I wanted to make a truly local wool yarn from truly local sheep. I buy the fleeces from local sheep keepers like myself, then take the fleeces to a little spinning mill in Yorkshire [no wool mills in Lancashire]. Once spun, I collect the wool yarn, then bring it back to my smallholding where I hand dye some of it, skein it, ball it, and present it to you. :-)
