This side table is a useful addition to a stitting room or would look lovely in a bedroom too.

When we bought it it was just a brown table and you didn't really notice the detail of the lovely carving around the edge of the table top.

After sanding, painting and adding a couple of layers of wax it has become a very attractive table, elegant but with a slight shabby chic feel.

Please note that this is a rescued, vintage piece and is not flawless and has age related imperfections.

We knew that is ugly duckling of a dull brown table could turn in to a swan with a bit of effort, and it now looks so different you wouldn't think it was the same piece of furniture!

We spent quite a lot of time thinking about how to paint it, but knew we wanted to pick out the detail of the carved edge around the table top, and we thought simplciity was best. So layering paint, rubbing back and then applying a pewter tinged wax for durability has transformed this to an elegant table - great in a sophisticated neutral coloured sitting room, hallway or romantic bedroom
