My most recent conceptual collections 'OBJECT[IFICATION]' and 'Beautiful Demolition Series' consist of unique and diverse, hand manipulated slip-cast porcelain and bone china vessels.
This contemporary porcelain vessel has been slip-cast and delicately manipulated by hand. Glaze has been applied in layers to achieve these refined and intensely contrasting colours. This piece has a sanded finish and has been high-fired for a pure porcelain aesthetic.
Exhibited at Bovey Tracey, Contemporary Craft Festival, June 2015.
Measurements - (L)7.5" x (W)5" / 19cm x 12.8
Can be sold in a series of three, part of my 'Beautiful Demolition' collection.
BEAUTIFUL DEMOLITION SERIES
My work explores the tactile and aesthetic qualities of clay, using the material aspects of clay to deliver an idealised or non-idealised forms. The pieces consist of various experiments showing the effects that tobacco has on clay, specifically how they can be used to manipulate and transform porcelain. Promoting a dematerialisation of the object as a defining factor, while retaining a sense intrigue and physicality within the object.
