This is a very rare antique Threshing Sledge, a primitive farming tool from Bulgaria circa 1850.
It was used for separating the wheat from the chaff, It has hundreds of sharpened flint blades slotted into the wood, it would be pulled along by oxen and dragged over the wheat separating the grains.
It has been lovingly restored with sections of wood being totally replaced and carving out new slots for more flints, most of the original flints are still in place but there some slots without stones.
190cm high and finished in wax this is a beautiful sculptural piece looking good against a wall, in a garden or mounted high on the wall as a real statement.

When I shipped this piece from Bulgaria it was in a terrible state, It had been left on the ground for years and started to decay. but I have totally restored it using old wood to match the original and replacing most of the flints which meant I had to learn flint Knapping.
It has taken me over a year on and off to finish but now its complete I'm very happy with it and its an interesting and beautiful look into the past.
