Porcelain was a perfect choice for these little cups. I love the delicacy of the material, the way the slip picks up every fragile detail of the surface and the way it shrinks in a way which makes the lumps and bumps more prominent.

These pots were developed with the barium blue glaze in mind which works perfectly with the cream canvas of the porcelain body. The pots only required one firing which enables me to stick to my energy conservation philosophy. Although only once fired the pots are vitrified which means they are suitable for containing water and therefore would make a perfect vase or tea light holder if you are looking for a functional piece. I would not recommend them as domestic pots, for example I have not tried or tested them in the microwave or the dishwasher and doing so would be at your own risk. The pots are also perfect for use as storage pots or a table centrepiece and would make a perfect gift for that special someone.

Originally inspired by Marcel Wanders ‘Egg Vase’ I wanted to use a similar approach in order to make some unique, beautiful and batch producible pots. These pots started out acorns and conkers which I collected in my handbag from my local park in Plymouth. The seeds and chickpeas were encased in party balloons with as much excess air removed using a hoover. Once casted in alginate I was left with a beautifully bobbly plaster replica of the balloons. This was then ready for moulding and casting.

Please let me know if you would like the pot(s) to be gift wrapped and sent directly to the recipient. It makes a great gift for that special someone! If your parcel is delayed please contact me and I will provide you with the tracking number which can be chased up with the Royal Mail. Unfortunately items cannot be replaced or refunded until 28 working days after the date of dispatch. I hope that you will love your purchase, however if you are not 100% happy, please contact me and I will do all I can to resolve any issues for you. As my ceramics are handmade, inevitably there will be variations in colour, size and weight. In the unlikely event that your pot is damaged in transit, please contact me within 7 days after the date of delivery and we can discuss how you wish this to be resolved.
