This rich chestnut slab was sculpted to enhance the rich grain already present...I always let the wood kind of shape itself and on this piece the center area has been formed out to create a large fruit bowl effect...I decided to allow one the forged steel legs protrude through the wood as a detail to balance the butterfly joint....The tapered shape of the wood creating the decision to have but three legs...
