This is a pretty Labradorite cabochon reflecting shades of green and flashes of blue. The cabochon has been set into an antique brass scroll pendant base and measures approximately 3cm in length. The pendant is hung on a matching brass chain that measures approximately 18" or 46cm.
The Inuit peoples claim Labradorite fell from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis.
Labradorite is a member of the feldspar family and is treasured for its remarkable play of colour, known as labradorescence. The stone, usually grey-green, dark gray, black or grayish-white, is composed in aggregate layers that refract light as iridescent flashes of peacock blue, gold, pale green or coppery red.
The name of this stone comes from the location in which it was first found, as it was named after Labrador in Canada. It is also found in Finland, Greenland,Scandinavia, Russia, Italy, Madagascar, Mexico and the USA.
Wearing Labradorite helps you to understand your destiny, can aid confidence in making decisions in your life and it fosters a patient attitude.
