Surfer at Dusk - Canvas Painting of a surfer at dusk on the beach; This canvas painting is painted in acrylic paint with a palette knife on a box canvas. The colors are dominated by the black surroundings and the centre of a painting displays a beautiful beach scene at dusk with a surfer watching the setting sun. I wanted to try painting with a pallette knife as I love the look and feel of textured paintings. I also particularly wanted to give the waves of the sea more of a texture. I wanted to paint something striking and deliberately used very bright colors against the black of the night.

I wanted to paint a striking seascape and took my inspiration from various seascape photograps, friends and also the lovely area I live in - so many things inspired me to paint this piece. I was also keen to try using the pallette knife for painting as I love giving my paintings texture which I feel gives them an extra bit of life.
