The pearls in this elegant and unusual freshwater pearl necklace are technically defined as black but in actuality they consist of beautiful shades of aubergine, gold, bronze, green and blue. Therefore the piece could be worn with so many outfits, making it a versatile accessory for any number of special occasions. The pearls are 6.5 to 7mm long and generally elliptical in shape. As always with natural pearls the shape and size of each is slightly different. They have a good smooth surface and nice, slightly metallic, sheen. They are strung in the traditional way with a tiny knot between each pearl. However I have used nylon instead of the more usual silk as it is stronger and a little less inclined to stretch. The necklace is finished with a silver-plated trigger clasp and a long extension chain with a wire wrapped matching pearl droplet at the end. This adds a pretty extra detail at the back if the wearer has short hair or is wearing their hair up and makes the necklace adaptable in length to go with a variety of necklines.

The necklace is 45.5cms (17.9ins) long, extending to 54.5cms (21.5ins) when the extension chain is used to its fullest extent.

The necklace will be sent wrapped in acid-free tissue paper in a sturdy cardboard box.
