This pretty spiral rope necklace is handwoven using tiny seed beads and bugle beads in silver with accents of shiny black (hematite coloured seed beads). The seed beads are Japanese Miyuki, well known for their quality and therefore popular for bead weaving. The hollow structure of the necklace makes it surprisingly lightweight despite its thickness. But it is also robust as it is stitched using the strongest tensile strength of Fireline braided beading thread. It is finished with a plated silver clasp and extension chain with a sweet little drop detail. The extension chain adds a pretty extra feature at the back if the wearer has short hair or is wearing their hair up, so it would work well on a special occasion, like a wedding. I use plated silver as it seems less inclined to tarnish than sterling silver but I am happy to change these fittings to sterling silver at extra cost if required.

I would also be happy to make custom orders in terms of colour, length and number of pieces to suit your requirements. However as these necklaces can take some time to make, and can vary in price depending on the beads used, please contact me early to discuss your requirements and to obtain a timeframe and costing.

The necklace is 48cms (18.9ins) long; 52cms (20.5ins) with extension chain and 0.9cm (0.3ins) in diameter.

The necklace will be sent wrapped in acid-free tissue paper in a sturdy cardboard box for safe travel.

This is yet another variation on the Russian Spiral stitch. If you have been looking at any of my other jewellery you will have seen that I have been experimenting with all sorts of variations of this weave. I found it very satisfying to watch this necklace grow as I stitched it, with the narrow black band of beads spiralling around the bugles. Silver and black are such useful colours as they go with so many things.
