I adore hats, and you'll often find me in the high street stores exploring their selection.
However, I struggled to find one which was smart and sophisticated, but would still keep my ears warm without slipping over my eyes, could be worn in the rain, and would not blow off in the first breeze.
The "Enid" cloche, named after my grandmother, evolved from this challenge. It fills the middle ground between a purely functional woolly hat and a structured millinery piece, perfect for casual wear.
I use a stitch which produces a dense fabric and a soft structure. The natural fibre of my yarns give greater warmth than acrylic.
