You gotta love those wrinkles.....and this Bloodhound has plenty.
This is a face with real character. I enjoyed making this with those beautiful large soft folded ears and the droopy jowls. Very different from the dachshunds that I often make.

I built the original in modelling wax , then using silicon rubber I created a mould of several layers followed by a plaster jacket to support the casting.
The original is removed from the mould and the mould cleaned before applying a thick gel coat of resin mixed with Pure Bronze powder.
Once cured the cast is turned out, any small imperfections such as air bubbles are retouched, then rubbed with fine wire wool to expose the bronze. Sealed, polished and a felt base applied.

This model came about whilst I was in my Bloodhound phase. Such a dignified breed of dog and they have such unique and unusual heads. It's as if God made a mistake with the measurements and gave them a skin that they never quite grew into. I particularly love the big soft ears and the way they fall forward when they are tracking, which apparently helps direct the scent they are following into their nostrils.
