Modelled on my dear Katie (5th Picture). This is one of the last of only approx. 25 casts I have made of this sculpture.
Created in 2007. I built the original in modelling wax (pic 4), then using silicon rubber I create a mould of several layers followed by a plaster jacket to support the casting.
The original is removed from the mould and the mould cleaned before applying a thick gel coat of resin mixed with Pure Bronze powder.
Once cured the cast is turned out, any small imperfections such as air bubbles are retouched, then rubbed with fine wire wool to expose the bronze. Sealed, polished and a felt base applied.

Katie was a big personality in a small package. I loved her smooth coat, her lovely dark eyes and her neat little paws.One glance could melt the hardest heart. Very pretty, cuddly, sweet tempered and, given the chance, lazy.
She was also very naughty.
One time..... I had spent ages making alterations to a skirt while she slept curled up beside me... or so I thought. When I'd finished sewing I lifted the skirt to see how it looked only to find that the "sleeping" Katie had chewed a huge hole in the back. Katie 1 Skirt 0.
