Inspiration

Amethyst

Birthstone for the month of February or Aquarius.

Amethyst is a member of the Quartz family and is violet to deep purple in colour. It’s name comes from the Greek for ‘not drunken’.

Countries of origin include Brazil, Siberia and Ski Lanka.

It is said to be a good stone to use with meditation and is believed to enhance spiritual awareness.

Amethyst was used as a gemstone by the ancient Egyptians. Purple also represented royalty to the Egyptians. Amethyst is also known as the Bishop's Stone and is still worn by Catholic Bishops.

Associated with the Crown Chakra.
