A beautiful album with a botanical butterfly and fern print. Would make a special guest book for a wedding in an exotic location!

Covered with decorative collage-style paper, with ferns and butterflies; the covers have an edging of deep green, textured hand made paper, to add to the exotic feel. The covers are lined with art paper in a toning shade of green.

The book is hand bound with pale pink hemp cord. The binding is a "slack Dutch binding", which is a form of stab stitch binding, made over the edges of the covers; however this style of stitching allows the book to open out totally flat, as the stitching - while being strong and carefully made - is intentionally quite loose and has some "slack" in it.

The book contains 30 pages of stiff, white paper, with a very slight texture. The paper will take handwriting, also photographs and all dry media (also a little paint, if not too wet). The book would also make a great sketchbook, or a special scrapbook.

The album is approx A4 size (30cm x 21cm / 12" x 8.5" approx).

I wanted to find a binding style that would allow me to make an album with single sheet pages, which would still open flat. Most stab-stitch bindings do not open flat, as the stitching is made over the top and bottom of the pages & covers.

The loose nature of this binding is intentional and a feature of the book, which does not detract from its function or attractiveness.
