The colander is hand thrown in white stoneware clay and finished in satin white glaze.
Approx 11 cm high and 16 cm wide (excluding lugs)
This looks really nice and very useful too. Good when you are picking fruit in the garden. Pick, wash, eat.
Our influences are a balance between English slipware , Japanese and medieval pottery. The thing they all have in common is the immediacy of the throwing and the visibility of the making process in the final piece. We like to make handmade pots that look handmade.
We both have manufacturing backgrounds and this naturally influences our method of working. Pots are made with the minimum number of operations to maintain the immediacy of the work. This was the approach taken by English country potters out of the necessity of keeping costs down. That isn’t of primary consideration in our case but it is a happy consequence of our chosen way of working.
We aim to make pots that are well designed, well made and affordable. You will have to judge our success or otherwise.
