This up-cycled golden brown and blue quilt is fully reversible and has been made from denim jeans and gorgeous sarongs. Perfect as a picnic rug for two, but would look great on the back of the sofa or beautiful on a teenager's bed.

I used a variety of colour denim patches to give contrast and included a few original seams to add extra interest. The central panel features the gorgeous sarong prints - reversed onto denim for strength and placed in a checkerboard pattern. The outer borders are back to back denim.

I've made a feature of the raw edges on one side, creating a beautiful reversible quilt with a smooth side and a frayed side. The binding is double folded for strength and hand sewn on the smooth side.

It measures approx. 40 inches by 40 inches.

All recycled materials have been thoroughly washed and ironed before being used, and the finished quilt has been washed and tumbled to create the attractive frayed patch edges.

This quilt is designed to continue to fray and this will increase its attractiveness as the quilt gets softer with age. Machine washable at 30 to 40 degrees. Can be line dried or tumbled lightly. Iron on smooth side.

In making this quilt, I recycled soft pre-loved jeans, including Levi and Wrangler, and fabric from Indonesian sarongs in rich navy, gold and brown. I've used a great wadding made from recycled plastic bottles - making the whole quilt completely upcycled - apart from the sewing thread!
