This handmade artists book is unique, and has been inspired by medieval manuscripts.

Drawing on inspiration from mediaeval manuscripts, I was bowled over by the beauty with which they illustrated their reading matter. I wanted to meld the frames that they laboured over with inspirational writing that has transformed the way I think. My character has been formed by what I have read, the thoughts of men and women that have lived different lives from me have continually shaped the way I think and feel about my own life, have broadened my perspective and helped me to dig into my own feelings about what life means.

From Shakespeare to Tolstoy, Einstein to Tagore, and to more contemporary wirters, Bryan Appleyard, David Foster Wallace, Dorothy Rowe, Doris Lessing.

It is larger than I generally make, because I wanted the text to be legible. This is ,measuring approx 12 x 26 cm and is slightly smaller than A5.

16 pages are printed on to a beautiful watercolour paper double coated for inkjet and giving excellent print quality and longevity. It is Bockingford 190 g.s.m. . I have hand bound it using coptic stitch. and decorated to imitate a medieval book.

I had been browsing the British Museum and was delighted by the medieval manuscripts and the beauty of their production. I have always loved the written word and decided to combine elements of the two, to enhance texts that had moved me.
