This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
A new design for 2013..
I based this new suncatcher on the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.
For the pattern I drew 3 circles, divided them up with nine colours following the colours of the rainbow. I then made a 'pot of gold' in my hotpot kiln using dichroic glass in a bright yellow, golden colour. The glass nugget which came out of my kiln is now in the centre of the circles.
The suncatcher is 6" in diameter and hangs from a silvery chain which is securely attached by soldered little ring to the top. It is framed with twisted wire for strengh and neatness.
This item is absolutely unique. I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use different variations of colour and textures of glass.
All photos are of this suncatcher as it is the first i have made to this design. The 5th photo is taken in artificial light, the others in daylight (as much as there is at the moment anyway) as I like to show my glass under different lighting conditions.
I saw a rainbow and looked for the pot of gold at the end but couldn't find it. So I decided to make my very own rainbow and have enclosed the gold in the middle so it can't get away.
