This is a hand-pressed linocut print entitled 'Tree Study No.2 (Clay Wood)' printed in dark brown.
The print is of a tree in a park in Sheffield called Clay Wood. I took part in a project called 10x10 in which artists were given a part of the city to go to and find inspiration for a piece of art. The results were auctioned off to raise money for an earthquake charity. I produced a one-off black and white version of this print for the occasion. This version is a subsequent edition, limited to 100 copies.
I had never been there before, and this time, instead of being taken by the surrounding architecture (the park is high up on one of Sheffield's hills) I was drawn to this tree in the centre of the park, and the shadow it cast on the grass.
Dark brown ink on off-white Daler-Rowney 220gsm acid-free paper. From an edition of 100, signed, titled and numbered.
The print image measures H21xW14.8cm.
The paper measures H42xW29.7cm.
All prints will be posted flat in a cellophane sleeve and protective packaging.
This wonderful tree and its shadow in the centre of Clay Wood in Sheffield!
