This is an abstract textile artwork by Heidi Meier, made in East Anglia. It combines layers of metallic gold and purple fabrics, oversewn with beautiful green purple and blue embroidery thread.
There were many phases to making this artwork, including the preparation of the metallic fabric (burning and melting), layering it with the purple cloth, and then spending a long time embroidering random patterns onto the fabric. I designed the stitching so it would flow downwards, giving the impression of movement and stature. The finished embroidery is then mounted and sealed within the frame. The mount is signed by the artist Heidi Meier and it has a nice deep rebate so that the folds in the fabric can be fully appreciated. A short bio of the artist appears on the reverse.
It's an abstract piece but has been named 'Harebells' as it gives a suggestion of this flower, bobbing in the breeze.
It is framed and presented in white, which gives the vivid colours of the picture a wonderful contrast. This also makes it suitable for a wide variety of interior decor.
Overall size is approximately 380mm by 300mm, making it a lovely gift, perfect for Mother's day, or for a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion, where you want to invest in something original.
Reduced from £175.
I have been experimenting with different techniques, to give pictures interest, texture and depth. Abstract pictures provide a great opportunity to create something that speaks to different people in different ways.
