These infinite energy machines are the ideal gift for 'someone who has everything', and will provide hours of endless fun as the handle is turned and turned, expending infinite energy and producing nothing out, apart from perhaps the thoughts of 'just what am I doing'?

For the mathematicians amongst us, the path of travel has a deep fascination, and very kindly one of my brothers has written a treatise on this entitled 'Useless Activity', a copy of which comes with each item purchased.

The unit is made from a mixture of reclaimed hardwoods, with the exact types depending upon what is available, but typically may include oak, mahogany, iroko, walnut or cherry. The complete unit is finished with an environmentally friendly combination of waxes.

This unique gift is approx 10cm square and 4cm high and comes complete with instructions.

I saw one of these years ago and, not knowing what it was, called it an infinite energy machine, thinking 'I too must have one'. Since then, periodically they have continued to emerge from my workshop, with many friends and relations having received one of these prized items as a present. They must like them as often I see them sitting on a mantlepiece or desk, and when no-one is looking I usually have a furtive check to make sure it is still working.

Any cherry used in making these has an interesting history, with it coming from trees felled in Sevenoaks, Kent by the great storm of 1987.

Recently I came across a toy maker, who also used to make these prized possessions and he let me into the secret of the real name - it's really a smoke grinder, but no apologies to all those people I have misled by calling it an infinite energy machine, as both terms are equally misleading.

I am not able to accept returns of custom made items.
