Vintage Antique Key textile picture embroidered mixed media fiber and fabric. The picture is pale turquoise, copper and gold and has been made using hand and machine embroidered stitches. As with some of my other work the many techniques used to create this decorative surface make it very difficult to describe. (The color of the framed photo is the actual colour although there is some reflection off the glass).
The framed textile picture, in which the key is hanging from a small nail, has been made using several layers of fabric which comprise:-
The antique key has been made from heavyweight fabric, painted, machine stitched and cut to shape. (It is not a real key).
Chiffon fabrics have been machine stitched and the excess burnt away.
The background is painted muslin which has been stiffened and edged with antique gold coloured acrylic paint.
Various machine and hand stitches and threads have been used to decorate the fabrics and paper.
The work is pale turquoise and copper in colour.
The final textile has been mounted onto a fine hand made paper.
The frame is light wood and measures 12 x 9 inches. The embroidery in the centre measures 7 x 5 inches.
The work is glazed.
This item has been hand stitched by me and made in a non-smoking and pet free home.
