I wanted to experiment with "pot melts" Pot melts are where you get lots of pieces of coloured glass and place them into a plant pot which is supported by bricks inside the kiln. The kiln is turned on and raised to a temperature of 1650 degrees and held at that temperature for an hour or until all the glass has melted and flowed out of the hole in the bottom of the pot and onto the kiln shelf to form a disc. The effects are random and unpredictable. This particular pot melt was made by making the hole in the bottom of the plant pot into a square hole which causes the glass to cascade out like a waterfall, whereas a round hole causes it to flow out in a spiral, similar to water flowing out of a bath
