This planter has been made from light stoneware clay and I have used an old Indian printers block to imprint the design into the wet clay. The planter has deliberate uneven edges which add to its rustic charm and it has been fired to 1260c in my kiln. To create the red and coppery tones to this piece I have rubbed oxides and stains into it.
It is intended for exterior use to hold plants, ideal for alpines and succulent plant species. I have made a hole near the top so that it can be attached to a wall.
This planter measures approx 26cm (height) x 20cm (width) and has a strong and robust feel. These planters do well outside all year round and will tolerate frost or can be hung inside if prefered.
Thanks for looking.
I really like the designs on Indian print blocks and like to incorporate them into my work. The red tones on this planter were a happy accident.
