Presumably in the mists of time.  A black background has clearly been laid down and then further paint applied.  I suspect a whole series of methods were tried and the last one appears to be the most successful.\r\n\r\nAcrylic Fluid Art uses top-of-the-range Acrylic Paints, containing high-quality pigments, polymers and binders.  These are then mixed with a Pouring Medium.
