I made the base by fusing opaline glass with light blue powdered glass dusting for the oceans. Another layer of various blue powders was added to give the sea depth. Then, the next layer of several different coloured powders was added to represent the continents, firing the piece after each layer was added. White glass powder was added to represent the cloud formation, and it took three layers to get the 3D effect I desired.  For the final firing, dichroic essence was lightly brushed over it.
