After treating it with woodworm stuff, I enjoyed carving it.... (I don't think my clumsy carving skills do the piece justice...but hey ho!)...To me this is a celebration of mother nature...the splits in the timber (Shakes, I think they are called),,,the wood worm holes (now filled with sawdust and linseed oil, which is the finished that has hardened up the timber as well as bringing out the grain). The bark on the upright, the round turned simple base...it is a lovely piece. When used as a table lamp the shadows enhance the features and I loved turning it round to view different aspects periodically. It is second hand, as I used it for months.
