The pendant measures approx 60mm (inc bail) by 25mm wide and comes with a sterling silver snake chain in a gift box. The boatite has a wiggly pattern of concentric rings and blobs in shades of green, blue, off-white, tan and mustard. These are not subtle shades, the green is very similar to a well known puppet frog. The pendant has an open back setting so you can see the very different pattern on the back, due to the low dome of the cabochon it should be possible to wear the pendant backwards to show this side instead.\r\nBoatite is the aquatic cousin of my favourite fordite - its layer upon layer of paint that built up in a boat yard rather than a car factory. This material was sold to me as having formed in the Larson boat factory in the 1960's, I've not found paint charts to confirm this but the colours are consistent with what I've found in advertising material. This would make a great gift for someone who loves messing about on very fast boats.
