The teardrops of surfite are mounted point down with an oval of textured silver between the surfite and the safety hook (also known as kidney wires). The surfite is a well matched pair with vertical stripes in cream, green (what I think of as Kermit green), red, blue and clear. The open backed settings allow light to pass through the surfite so when it is front lit the green and cream are most prominent but when back lit the red shows up more as it is translucent. The sterling silver safety hooks make sure these swingy earrings stay securely in your ears. The earrings measure approx 55mm top of hook to bottom and 17mm across (bit over 2 inches by 5/8th inch). Comes gift boxed.\r\nSo what's surfite? It is many upon layer of cured resin that builds up during the 'glassing' step of custom surfboard manufacture (glassing is when the foam inner is covered in more durable resin).
