It is mounted on a 20mm brooch bar, soldered to the copper base.\r\n\r\nTo make the tortoise I first built up several layers of clear enamel on the copper base.  I then lay a coat of green over this. Before firing the grean coat I drew through it with the point of a cocktail stick to make the tortoises eye and the patterns of its shell by exposing the colour of the copper base.  When I then fired the tortoise the enamel melted but left the lines I had drawn.
