Full description

This piece is made using the frit stretching method and took six firings in the kiln to complete. Stacks of clear glass, topped with multi-coloured glass frit were placed into a stainless steel ring and very gently heated to over 800 degrees Celsius to form one solid flat piece.

Step 2 saw the edges being rubbed to a smooth finish before being slowly fired again to a polished finish.

The finished piece was placed over a mould and slowly fired again to slump into the bowl shape. This process happened twice to achieve the depth.

Once cooled, I used diamond hand pads to smooth the base to a flatter finish to enable stability when standing.

It measures approximately 18cm across and 6cm high.

This piece was a test piece to learn the technique. Whilst the edges are not perfectly round it is still a lovely piece and offered at an exceptionally low price.

Postage is included within the UK.
