I gift wrap all of my journals before I post them out. I'm always happy to post direct to the lucky recipient and will include a personal message from you, if you'd like me to. Just leave me a note with your order. What could be nicer than receiving a one of a kind gift through the post!
To create the cover prints, I used Fabriano Tiziano art paper in a colour called Brina – a pale blue with flecks. It’s a lovely base for cyanotype printing. It’s just the perfect weight for creating the covers for my journals. It’s strong enough to take the cyanotype chemicals and the dyes and inks I use in the development process; it can also stand up to the washing at the end of the process!
The inside covers are handmade Nepalese Lokta paper, in a pale blue.
The book is stitched together with Williamsburg Blue coloured Irish Linen waxed thread. This is the best kind of thread to use for bookbinding, because it doesn’t stretch, so your journal stays firmly bound, no matter how often you open and close!
I used Coptic stitching to bind the book together, which means that the book will lie completely flat when opened, which makes it perfect for journaling or sketching. It’s also the best kind of binding for the left-handers out there! No spine getting in the way!
