Alastair Ross Profile

Hello - thanks for dropping by.

Juggling a more than full time job and "the twins", I hope I can share my passion for photography and the pleasure I get in creating prints and cards that show off my work.

The cards that I create are made with recycled card, supplied with a recycled envelope and shipped in a little cellophane bag that is actually made from corn starch - making it bio-degradable. Even the sticky tab to seal the bag is bio-degradable!

The paper I use is always heavy weight paper that is reminiscent of traditional wet room photographic papers - just now I flit between Crane's Silver Rag - a paper made from the by-products of the products of cotton and Harman Fibre Base Gloss. Both are excellent archival quality papers with their own characteristics and appeal.

I print all my own photographs mainly using Epson K3 inks which offer excellent image reproduction and longevity.

People have asked me "What is an 'Edition Print'?". Well - an Edition Print is one of an open edition. I work on a print and it will be the 1st Edition, if I tweak the print it then becomes the 2nd Edition and so on. Within that edition there may be a number of print runs (all dated) - usually dictated by demand, so you get 1st Edition, 1st Printing and 1st Edition, 2nd Printing and so on. This is all recorded on the the print. I want to share my work not limit its circulation with Limited Editions - hence Edition Prints, a piece with a clear record of when it was created at a reasonable price.

Depending on your outlook, you may wish to keep the Edition information on your print, or you may not - this isn't a problem as all the prints have an even border all the way around them, e.g. if there is 2cm of border left, right and top - there will be 2cm of clear space/border at the bottom too BEFORE you get to the print title etc. Any questions - please do not hesitate to contact me.

Its early days with my own line shop, and not every image I would like to share is available on the shop. Have a look at www.rossphotography.co.uk and if something catches your eye, drop me a note and will I try to sort something out for you.

We all like positive feedback and I will do everything reasonably possible to ensure that you are happy with your purchases from me. If you are wanting to give neutral or negative feedback, please get in touch with me first to see what I can do to make you happy. Thanks.
