Hello and a very warm welcome to my Folksy Shop. My name's Georgie, I'm a Fine Art Painter and I live and work in the Staffordshire Moorlands, UK.
I graduated from Loughborough University in 2005 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art (Painting). Since graduating I’ve exhibited my work all over the place – exhibitions list below.
I care a great deal about both the quality and content of my work, also the idea of art for everyone, and have set this shop up with that in mind, offering paintings at dramatically lower prices than you might expect to pay elsewhere. I don’t intend to imply that the pieces listed here are worthless, more to offer work at prices I could afford myself!

A little about the paintings...
The inspiration for my work comes primarily from the sky; the vastness of it, its cloud formations, rolling and ever changing; the brief bursts of colour at dawn and dusk and the way it makes me feel when I look at it. I like the idea of catching and visualising something that is essentially a fleeting emotion.
I don't paint in a photo-realistic style because my works are not simply 'paintings of the sky' - there's more to them than that. Exploration of paint as a medium; colour; personal expression; spontaneity; impulsive, gestural mark-making & hidden text, pushed from my mind onto the canvas all come together to create very abstract pieces which merely hint at their cloud-based beginnings. The paintings evolve up until completion in much the same way as the sky and clouds are forever changing their colour, shape and tone, ever-shifting.

When I’m not painting, I spend time tending to my son and knitting cardigans for myself. I write a couple of blogs, georgiepaint & paintingmama, the former’s totally art related, the latter quite baby-centric.
