Sarah Franklin Profile
My name is Sarah and I live in Manchester in the UK, I’m originally from London which I thought I’d miss like mad but I feel very at home in the North now.
I’ve always been a creative sort, and after ten years at boarding school, followed by an Art Foundation course I studied for my BA Degree in Graphic Design with some product design, glass design and photography thrown in. Despite not formally studying photography I’ve been taking photos for as long as I can remember starting with my first camera when I was about six. I’ve since graduated to a rather lovely Nikon D300, I also have a rather tetchy Holga, a Lomo and an elegant Rolleicord. One of my resolutions for this year is to start developing my own black and white film at home.
I love to photograph a stupidly wide range of subjects, from the grotty and grungy on the seedy back streets of Manchester. I become insanely thrilled when I see a ‘birthday banner’ slung up on a roundabout or a bridge and I search out roadside cafes. It’s not all grunge and roadside though, I love to photograph - amongst many many things, flowers, food, signs and the seaside but tend to make my ‘pretty’ images on holiday - I think it’s something to do with the quality of the light!
As well as photography, I’ve been a chef and have a long lasting obsession and passion for food, cooking, eating and feeding my friends with vast quantities of garlicky delights. I’m very into my Iyengar Yoga, but still can’t do a handstand the way I used to when I was ten and can’t work out why. I attempt to run and like to lift weights. I love to read, watch too much television and am in love with internet.
You can view all of my photographs in my Flickr stream, if there's an image there which you'd like as a print, please drop me a line and let me know what you'd like.
I'll post your prints to the address which comes with the email from Folksy telling me about your purchase, so please make sure you give me the correct address. All prints are posted from the UK with Royal Mail First Class or Air Mail in cello bags in rigid flat packaging for all A4 sized prints, larger ones may be rolled in rigid tubes. The packaging may not be pretty, but it is functional and often recycled.
I print to order so please allow up to 10 days for your goods to arrive, it will almost always be much faster than that.
Please pay me within two working days of placing your order, after that I will contact you to politely remind you. UK customers may pay by cheque and I'll wait for it to clear before posting your goodies to you. Please send me a message if you wish to pay by cheque.
