Robin Camps Profile

Hi! My name is Robin. I design printable graphics for crafters. You can use my designs for all sorts of creative things: tile pendants, miscroscope slide jewellery, greeting cards, ATCs/ACEOs, magnets, buttons, scrapbooking, altered art, decoupage…anything you can dream up, really!

My designs are NOT clip art. Each image is an original digital collage, made using vintage graphics, texture overlays, and artistic embellishments. I consider myself a collage artist first and foremost: I love the random effect of combining found elements to create something new and unique. You won’t find anything quite like this on Folksy!

ABOUT MY PROCESS
I work almost entirely in Adobe Photoshop, and sometimes in Adobe Illustrator.

I start by collecting lots and lots of public domain vintage images and textures from various sources. Once I decide on an idea or a theme, I assemble the images I want to use and carefully isolate the bits I want, pixel by pixel. Then I run filters, boost brightness and contrast, and perform various magical incantations to improve the image quality.

To create my unique background textures, I use high-resolution images of things like peeling paint, rust, cement or old stone. I layer several of these on top of each other, using different blending modes to achieve a rich, ‘grungy’ effect.
