Priscilla Morley Profile
Nottingham born and bred, sewing and knitting and similar crafts were always part and parcel of family life. At junior school, a long time ago, we made skirts (with a placket) before we were ten. We were a family of printers so design was always important.
I do not have any formal background in creative disciplines but have explored many areas of arts and crafts over the years while bringing up a family, working in the NHS, and becoming a professional librarian. Now working from home allows me to combine home responsibilities while pursuing my creative dreams in leather and textiles, beavering away to make hidden treasure from the huge stash of still useful materials I refuse to throw away
Leather craft has become a special interest, especially the use of vegetable tanned leathers and I have attended courses in Tetbury with Valarie Michael. The workshop there required no power in the making of handsome bags which will last a lifetime, and the standard of craftsmanship was inspiring. I love making bags but increasingly I find I enjoy working my own mini "designs on leather". http://www.priscillamorley.co.uk/Designs_on_leather.html
Some things which interest me:
A fairer world, self sufficiency, sustainability, preventing waste, home working and what we can we learn from the past.
Some things which cheer me up:
A job well done and an item well made, the daft ideas that go through my head as I get older.
