Joe Hurry Profile

My dyslexic scribblings began 5 or 6 years ago after I saw a book by David Shrigley at the Tate Modern. His drawings were (and still are) hilarious and it showed me that you don’t need any conventional artistic ‘talent’ to make something thought provoking or at the very least something amusing. So I started putting pen to paper and drawing all the time. Five years later, I now sometimes refer to my drawings as ‘illustrations’ and compared to the first few years the drawings are much better now. I find them very amusing and hopefully you will too.
The sculptures are a much more recent development and are made using broken equipment donated by friends, people on freecycle and via negotiations with the people at the recycling centre. Commissions are welcome for both sculptures and illustrations so please feel free to get in touch.
Thank you for taking the time to find out more about me and my work! (I am quite honoured I must say.) The goal of what I'm doing is to escape the system, work for myself and start a smallholding with my amazing wife.

I also have a real passion and make a real effort to use almost entirely recycled or biodegradable materials in my work. All the energy used for printing and running the computer comes from green electricity and any packaging used to send items out will be along this same theme.

And just so you know, I have a blog that I update as often as possible. And a website completely full of my drawings:

That’s all for now! If you have any questions just message me and I’ll do my best to respond quickly and coherently. Thanks again for reading.

Good Day.

Joe
