A half cut cocoon and a 6mm black pearl are mounted on top of this handmade sterling silver ring. The cocoon I used is the one that produces pure tussah silk (wild silk). It has been sanitized, and treated in a special way so it's hard, neat and clean enough for jewelry making. The treatment I applied allows the cocoon to remain its natural attractive color, particularly the rich creamy sheen of the silk. This piece of necklace is from the ORGANIC BEAUTY collection. It was inspired by deer horns. I originally designed and used traditional jewelry making skills to hand cut and polish this unique snowflake pendant. A beautiful deep sea blue sapphire was handpicked and perfectly set in the center of this pendant using the technique called Bezel setting. The necklace is a solid sterling silver wire, with the rigid choker and a ring clasp I specially designed for all my necklaces. It ideally matches this contemporary stone set snowflake pendant. There are nine hearts in the pendant. The Chinese believe that the number of NINE represents the meaning of 'forever'. I also handpicked this beautiful deep sea blue sapphire to match this special design. Therefore, I designed and handmade each bezel cup and sized the bands from raw sterling silver sheet and wire rather than using waxing or molding techniques to make sure every single ring is ideally and specially for the stone. After hand polishing the rings, I used traditional bezel setting skills to set the stones on each ring. The 5 mm brilliant cut gemstone featured on top of this high polished sterling silver ring is a natural and untreated amethyst. It is fair trade and conflict free. The way I set it insures the maximum exposure of the rich purple while safely locking it on top of this stack ring. Amethyst is the birth stone of February.
