As a child I was always fascinated to watch potters throwing pots and wanted to have a go, so when I had the opportunity to join an evening class in 1994 I jumped at the chance. At first I made slow progress but after I installed my first wheel in our downstairs cloakroom thing started to improve. I bought a small top loading kiln which lived in the dining room for a short while but soon was dispatched to the garden shed where I set up my first work shop.I worked here as a hobby until my boys started school and then decided that the time had come to give it a go. I set up Rosemary Jacks Pottery in 2008 and have never looked back. And I have recently moved into a new studio in the old Bakers workshop next to our home in rural East Devon.
I love to make useful pots with a fun feel, and take inspiration from the beautiful landscapes of countryside and sea, which I am lucky enough to live so close to. Animal and plant designs feature heavily and I like to use strong but subtle colours which fit in with our country home.
I live with my husband, Noel, our two teenage sons, our Jack Russell, Mouser (who often features on my pots) and our tortoise, Nigel (who doesn't). We also have 2 bantams, Beryl and Giovanni.
