When you buy jewellery from me, it is actually made by me - there is no production line, there are no little elves in a sweat shop, it's me and just me here. So every piece has been a labour of love, from start to finish. Yes, some of the pieces are regulars and you'll see stock of more than one in the shop, but they've still been made by my fair hands!
I've been making jewellery in one form or another for over 20 years. The early days were pretty basic, creating threaded necklaces and bracelets but as my desire to make more complex pieces grew, I started taking classes from people who knew their stuff. Silversmithing was first on my list and the skills that I learnt back then, were so valuable, as I use them pretty much every day.
Next on my list was enamelling. This just opened up a whole new world for my work and it is probably my most favourite thing to do, as it adds gorgeous colours to silver, which really makes my designs come to life.
The final major addition to my work was the introduction of metal clay, a decade ago. I can sculpt, carve and texture the clay, to really get the look that I want. Once the piece is finished, I pop it into my kiln and all the clay binders burn away and I'm left with a pure silver piece, which can also be hallmarked.
When I'm not making jewellery? Well, I'm a Mum to a gorgeous girl who has inherited the creative genes! So my free time usually involves baking and making! Her favourite thing at the moment is shrink plastic - we've been having lots of fun with that!!
