When this illustration was created I couldn't decide whether I preferred the background color in yellow or purple so I choose both. This is the purple version which i think has a more wintry feel. This illustration was created as an original freehand drawing with color and texture digitally added. How Lucy made this artwork: 1. The stag and birds were drawn free hand in pencil onto white paper. 2. The pencil drawing was traced in black fine-liner onto tracing paper. 3. This image was then scanned onto a computer and the black outline refined. 4. The outline of the tree was then drawn in pencil, then traced and scanned as above. 5. The stag and birds were layered over the tree. 6. Then the color, pattern and texture were added to the stag and birds, then the floral background was created.
