Quirky, fun and individual, homeware, mugs jugs bowls and teapots, bunting...lots of bunting. Ceramics made using lead free glazes and fired to earthenware in my home studio. Handpainted, hand twiddled and designed gifts and objects, all with love - Sometimes in the studio...more often in the kitchen. (All works copyright of Heather richards 2011)

just haring around

This is a lovely bone china mug with a painted hare gazing off into the distance. Its ears flow over the top lip of the mug and the paint can be clearly felt within the glaze. I love the fine quality of these mugs from Fegg Hayes in Stoke on Trent. Hold it up to a light bulb and you can see right through it.

The mug measures 10cm high and 8cm wide
It has a soft swoop shape with a comfortable handle
10oz capacity
microwave and dishwasher safe as it is high fire. I second fire very high so that the glaze melts again and the painting pigments are absorbed within the glaze.

I can do muliples of these if you would like a set, message me with any requests!

I send out using first class recorded delivery, using recycled materials. All my work has a nice little tag on it describing production and care and is wrapped in tissue first. i use recycled materials to pack, collected for me by my wombling parents!

walled garden mug

Walled garden : My idea of heaven

I go a little soppy and sepia over walled gardens, these mugs are dedicated to my Nana, they have brick sponge printed designs and a selection of foliage and flowers, I always put a heart on the handle and attach a little care and information card with jute string. On the bottom they have my stamp and 'walled garden'. These take a surprisingly long time, they are all individually painted, I have made the little brick sponge stamp and all colours will vary slightly.

these mugs are 9cm high and 8cm wide
they hold 10 oz of your favourite beverage

I use food-safe underglaze colour and lead-free glaze and fire to midrange earthenware temperatures in my studio in the heart of South Norfolk.
I package using recycled materials and use first class recorded delivery.

dishwasher safe - we use these all the time at home

scruffy Crowz mug

Cecil - Scruffy Crowz

This is a hand painted earthenware mug using food safe underglaze colours, lead free glaze and fired in my studio to earthenware temperatures.

Each crow is different and frequently wings scrawl over the rim of the mug and legs hang over the edge...as they do! You can feel the brush strokes under the glaze. I put a little heart on the handle and 'scruffy crowz' underneath.

This mug is 9cm high and 8 cm wide and holds 10 oz of tea....or coffee as black as the night...

I post using first class recorded and use recycled packaging where possible, usually collected for me by my ever loving Wombling parents.

baby bunting christening set

This was a commissioned piece, based on the blue baby bunting set. This set is individually hand painted and I went with the colours that Maisie wanted (Via her godmother to be...) Each piece has been personalised with her name somewhere on the line, we have a selection of bunting, nappies, bibs and grows, and of course socks....The washing line is very thickly applied colour and it has a real texture under the glaze.

Whilst these pieces were intended to be used, I believe they went into the nursery....I am happy to add a message on the back of the plate for you, for example, the date, love from or your wishes and hopes for the child. Orders will take around 14 days to complete , I may be able to do things faster if I have a gap and I am about to set a firing off...please advise me of the deadline date!

This set comprises of a bowl, plate, child sized mug and egg cup

I use food safe underglaze colour and lead-free glaze, I fire to earthenware temperatures in my studio in South Norfolk

posh gift tag 'totally dotty red heart'

Posh gift tags make a present! These are hand rolled ceramic hearts, cut and then shaped again to make make the heart organic and feely. Rich red undercoat and heavy white dots on the surface which can be clearly felt under the glaze.

I leave the backs of these hearts clear of glaze to enable you to write the message in pencil, biro or permanent marker. Because the clay is still porous at earthenware temperature it is ideal to absorb essential oils for slow diffusing...

These hearts are 9cm long by 7cm wide and are finished with a red satin ribbon and a little label.

The heart will come wrapped in tissue and packaged in recycled materials, first class post.

little bunting heart, gift tag

These are hand made and cut, smoothed and buffed! painted with mini bunting motif and hung with jute string for you to use as gift tags or decorations. These work well as esential oil diffusers as the oil aroma slowly evaporates from the unglazed side. i have heard some people putting them in wardrobes with a few dabs of lavender on. I use them as gift tags and they make any present look really lovely!

these hearts are around 7cm long, though they do all vary a little
they have a tag tied in with the hanging loop
the back is left unglazed for you to write your message on in pen, pencil or thin marker

the heart will be packaged in tissue before being put into recycled bubble wrap and posted first class

I can do more of these and can produce them bespoke to your requirements, please contact me for details, this listing is for one heart.

endless summer bunting jug

This is a HUGE jug!! We use this size for 'fizzy pink' but my children need a hand to pour as life is too short for too many spillages of this magnitude! I have painted this jug with 'endless summer bunting, i love these colours and the waftiness of the fabric, the bunting winds round the top of the jug and is fastened to the rim, the ties hang inside. I use the handle to tie the bunting on too. I paint a heart on the handle and the jug is backstamped with makers mark and entitled endless summer.

This jug measures 15cm across the top19cm high and if it were looking at its vital statistics it would be: waist 39cm and hips 61 cm

I use food safe underglaze colours and lead free earthenware glaze and fire to earthenware temperatures in my studio.

I love this bunting and do all sorts of vessels, please contact me if you would like something specific or an item personalised, I can turn orders round within 2 weeks, often sooner..

I post using first class recorded delivery and use recycled materials, lovingly gathered by my parents - who are the original Wombles...

new baby bowl

This is a gift for a new baby, a commissioned piece the client wanted to have something that was potentially practical!! We decided upon the design and since other people have liked it I am posting it on my shop.

The painting is very textured and the roses can be clearly felt under the glaze. on the reverse side - the outside of the bowl I have painted pink feet in raised colour...these were very touchy feely and rather nice. The little love from... is on the base, but of course this could be put anywhere.

If you would like one like this please allow at least 14 days for me to paint and fire it, I can process things quite quickly as I do fire quite frequently but like to have a full kiln so the sake of cost and environmental impact!

This is a lovely little sized bowl, we use these for breakfast, puddings and nibbles. It measures 14cm across and 7cm high.

I paint in food safe underglaze colours, lead free glaze and fire to earthenware temperatures in my studio in the heart of Norfolk. I post out using first class post and use recycled materials.

Capt Crust Ocean christening set

This was a commissioned piece and it went down very well. If you would like one of these sets they are as follows:

baby mug: 7cm high by 7cm wide
bowl: 14cm across by 7cm high
plate: 20cm across

I paint using foodsafe underglaze colour and lead free glaze. My painting leaves brush strokes and texture which you can feel under the glaze...so much nicer than a transfer!!

I fire in my studio in the heart of South Norfolk. This is an earthenware temperature ceramic

I can put your love from message on the back or the front, if it is a long message or will take me a while to space it out nicely please mail me first to allow me to advise you on time and cost. I am quite a swift worker but my price is determined by the product cost and time it takes to produce...arrrgh....You will need to allow 10 - 14 days for me to process your set. I fire regularly and will always get it to you on time but I need to fit it in with my pirating capers around South Norfolk...

Sent via Pirate Jack Sparrow in his red ship with Gold crest. I use old caskets to pack treasure up in so as not to choke up land lubbers environments...arrrgh

baby bunting mug and bowl set

On this baby mug and bowl there is a light colour wash sky with a lovely washing line filled with nappies / muslins, baby grow a few bunting flags and bibs....the stripy sock is hanging on the line...but the stray sock is on the inside of the bowl.

I have made the washing line out of very tactile underglaze colour and the pegs can be clearly felt also. I am happy to add more bunting and less nappies or the other way round if you prefer. Obviously I can do whatever colour scheme you would like, reds, greens .

Ideal for a new baby, christening/naming ceremony or a first birthday. Let me know the name of the child, the date - birth date or ceremony date and I can add it to the washing on the line - or a bunting flag if you prefer. Please allow 10 - 14 days for this item as it is made to order and i need to fit it in with my firing schedule.

I tie a artist label on the handle of the mug and include a bio in the parcel.

I use food safe underglaze colour and leadfree glaze and fire to earthenware temperatures in my studio in the heart of Norfolk England.

Personalised chicken mugs

These were two mugs for a couple. Their names are down one side of each mug...The lady has a pink chicken pair and the gentleman has a blue...It doesn't have to be quite like this, I was commissioned to do these. if you would like me to do this for you, please state what kind of mug or vessel you want and which of my designs you would like. I have priced this for the pair.....I quite liked the way that the chickens faced each other as the mugs faced each other, nice to see the dialogue!!

Please allow at least 14 days for me to complete your order, although if I have a firing about to go on, quite frequently I can sort something out much faster.

If you want something much more complex than just adding a name of one of my designs then please email me and I can give you a quote.

Food safe underglaze colour, individually painted, glazed and fired up by me in Norfolk. I fire to earthenware temperatures and find that these mugs are dishwasher worthy!

I pack in recycled materials and send items with Royal Mail Recorded First class packets.

wedding autograph dish, bespoke design

A fabulous keepsake of the day, This large dish was taken round the wedding reception and guests were asked to sign, or write a short message in felt tip. I then used the wedding invitations and thank you's, which were designed by the bride, to put the detail on the front. This design flows over the rim of the dish and fills a few gaps on the back! I added the little red hearts detail.

The design is up to you, you can go round in a spiral, just allow the guests freedom to sign where ever draw little images - What ever works for the occasion.... The dish gets returned to me and I carefully overpaint all the marks made -( unless any are specifically not wanted!)

The only issue with this as gift for the day is that it does need someone to orchestrate it...I created one for my sister in law and her husband and I had the most wonderful wedding. i talked to everyone who was there, it was fantastic!!! I did a huge dish, we had cartoons from children, lovely messages and poems.....because the dish is unglazed bisque you have to be very careful not to allow people with dirty or greasy hands to put their mucky paw prints on it. Glaze does not like grease!

Send the dish back to me and I will go over all the writing and put your design on the front and send it back to you - or the bride and groom within 14 days. In this costing I am assuming 4 hours production time, if it is any less once I receive your piece back i will adjust you and reimburse any costs.

And they lived happily ever after

A mammoth beauty of a jug painted in a fit of creative fervour late one night as stories were rattling round my head....

This is a free hand painted earthen ware jug with the words: And they lived happily ever after' winding round the belly. The A is highly decorated -- as all good stories start, and the flowers are a winding explosion of yummy yellow with twisty stems and little red hearts , I have painted some inside the lip too and a tendril loops down over the handle heart.

I have just done a little one of these as a wedding gift...I put their names on the inside at the top.....get in touch if you would like more details.

This jug is 20cm high15 cm across the top
If this jug had vital statistics they would be:
bust : 48
waist : 38
hips: 61

We use this size jug at home when we have 6 children round the table...this is the water or 'pink' It contains 2litres up to the hips...2.5 if you want to break your arm!

I painted a plate at the same time 26 cm diameter (see separate listing)

If you would like this I package using recycled materials and send out first class recorded - or you could collect from me.

Personalised Nursery set, dinocrockolizard

Cute little matching set with a character my kids love, it is the infamous 'dinocrockolizard', always quite friendly with a tail which loops over the top of the cups and swirls round the bowls.

This little bowl is ideal for breakfasts, puddings and snacks, we use these a lot in our house and it cuts down food waste considerably and is so much nicer.

mug 7cmcm high, 7.5cm diameter
bowl 7cm high 14cm diameter
egg cup is a normal sized egg cup!

Each Dinocrockolizard is utterly individual, I don't use stamps or transfers and try to keep the flow of the character. The colours are all underglaze colours and the texture can be felt under the glaze. I use lead free glazes and non toxic food safe colours. I fire to high earthenware temperatures so whilst it is suitable for dishwasher I would not recommend it for microwa

I can personalise the individual pieces with the childs name, my children thought that:

Eat it all up...
slurp it
dunk it
would be what the DCL would say to a new little girl called Miai....yours may be different!

I package using recycled materials in pre used boxes collected from shops. ( I wrap in tissue paper first however...) I will post using first class recorded delivery unless you wish me to do otherwise.

Please allow me at least 14 days to process any order, although I can often get things done a lot faster I need a bit of 'just in case time'

baby bunting mug and bowl set

I post using recycled materials and first class Royal Mail

Capt Crust Ocean christening set

This was a commissioned piece and it went down very well. If you would like one of these sets they are as follows:

baby mug: 7cm high by 7cm wide
bowl: 14cm across by 7cm high
plate: 20cm across

I paint using foodsafe underglaze colour and lead free glaze. My painting leaves brush strokes and texture which you can feel under the glaze...so much nicer than a transfer!!

I fire in my studio in the heart of wonderful Norfolk. This is high earthenware temperature ceramic and can go in the dishwasher, but not recommended for microwave.

Love Bunting - tall jug

This is a tall earthenware jug freehand painted with fluttering red bunting, the flags are long and individual lengths and there are hearts attached to some of the ends of the flags. The bunting loops round the top of the vase twice and inside there are a number of tiny red hearts.

Because this is free hand painted you can feel the texture under the glaze, I use foodsafe underglaze colour and leadfree glaze and fire to high earthenware temperatures. My pots are dishwasher safe and totally unique, every one is different. The bottom bears my back stamp and title in red 'love bunting'.

I am always happy to do commissions and special requests, this shape jug with bunting has been done as a wedding gift for a couple, I am happy to discuss all commissions!

I post out using recycled materials wherever possible and use first class recorded delivery

porcelain plant markers

These are the ultimate in posh plant markers....high fire porcelain unglazed but vitrified (so they are frost proof) with a lovely impressed design on the top. i have made 5 different designs and am clustering them in bundles of five, tied with raffia with a hand made tag tied on with a jute string.

Each marker is approximately 11.5 cm and can be written on in pencil
we tested these out over the winter in our garden, we wrote on in pencil and left them exposed to all sorts of weather conditions. They are frost proof and have retained their marking. We also experimented with indelible marker (Sharpie or equivalent) that gave some lovely coloured lettering contrasting with the very delicate look of the porcelain.

I package using recycled materials lovingly collected by my wonderful parents and send using first class recorded delivery.

let me know which set you would like. I am drying the next wave which are slightly longer and some more hanging tags with lovely impressed floral tops.

baby washing line mug

This listing is for one baby washing line mug

These are the cute little mugs 6.5 cm high and painted individually with a washing line of ....whatever is appropriate...!! little girls tend to have cute little t shirts.....flowery cloths and their names on an item on the line...boys can have whatever - t shirts with stars on, stipey socks, I still pretend that we all do washable nappies - it is such an iconic image!

These are painted by hand and I will need at least 14 days to produce.

the bottom of the mug can accommodate a message from you (not excessively long...perhaps 'love from...on your christening...etc)

I dispatch using first class recorded delivery and use recycled materials to package items
